-       It is necessary to develop an artificial bladder that can replace the function of a human bladder for patients who require bladder resection due to bladder cancer or patients with inactive bladder. The artificial bladder developed by this research team is largely divided into three functions: urine storage function, discharge function, and urine fullness detection function. The sensor for detecting urine fullness utilizes Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to operate wirelessly and without inserting a battery into the body, and the urine discharge function also aims to implement a powerless artificial bladder system using a manual pump.

-       All components are made of polydimethylsiloane (PDMS), a biocompatible material, and other elements such as metal electrodes are all embedded in PDMS to ensure the biocompatibility of the artificial bladder. We are developing artificial bladders with functions similar to those of human bladders, and performing biocompatibility tests of materials used in artificial bladders and functional verification of artificial bladders through animal experiments.
